There are many reasons why you should not sign a contract with Dex, Reach Local, or Hibu to manage your Google AdWords pay per click program. High (some would say insane) markups on the clicks, withholding valuable data to help you interpret the results, and lack of control over YOUR Google AdWords account are just a few of them.
High Pay Per Click Markups:
Since Dex, Reach Local, and Hibu do not reveal their actual markups (like they are required to do) it’s impossible for me to say exactly how much they are charging you. I can tell you that I’ve been in this game a very long time and the amounts are rumored to be;
- Hibu – 40% markup
- Dex – 50% markup
- Reach Local – 60-65% markup (when you factor in their management fee on top of the markup)
Reputable Pay Per Click re-sellers will charge approximately 15 – 20% and do a much better job f managing your keywords.
Withholding Pay Per Click Data:
Dex, Reach Local, and Hibu only share small pieces of information with you. A monthly performance report will typically include Impressions, Clicks, Actions (“Conversions”), Average Cost Per Click, and Total Spend. You will also most likely see your “Top Performing Keywords” (usually 5 or 10 keywords). Most of this information will be reported for your entire campaign, and not broken down on the keyword level. This is VERY MISLEADING!
These big re-sellers also don’t show you information like Time on Site, Bounce Rate, and New vs Returning customers. Their is a ton of information available that they don’t share with you.
Lack of Control over YOUR AdWords Account:
That’s right – it is YOUR ACCOUNT. Why on earth anyone would pay a company to manage their account but not have complete and total access and control over that account is beyond me – but it happens every day. These companies will setup a Google AdWords Account for you – then not let you see the information available in it, control the monthly spend, pause campaigns when needed, make changes as you see fit, turn keywords on and off and do a number of things that you should be able to do with YOUR account.
These three things are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to why you should NEVER, EVER SIGN A PAY PER CLICK CONTRACT with Dex, Reach Local, or Hibu.
